Cancer rehabilitation. Current trends and prospects

An important scientific event in the field of oncology is the Scientific and Practical Conference of ADIOR of the CIS and Eurasia “Cancer Rehabilitation. Modern Trends and Prospects ”took place on August 20, 2020 in Moscow. The conference was held in an up-to-date online format, which allowed delegates to take part in the event from anywhere in the world. The event was attended by 623 people from 12 countries, including: Algeria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine. The program included presentations by 79 international speakers from Russia and the CIS countries on various and relevant topics. The conference was opened by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Dmitrievich Kaprin, President of ADIOR CIS and EA, General Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "National Medical Research Center of Radiology" of the Ministry of Health of Russia, chief freelance specialist-oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia.

In the context of continuing restrictions in many countries in view of the ongoing pandemic, holding such an event again became especially relevant, the conference participants noted. During the opening of the event, Andrei Kaprin, President of ADIOR CIS and Eurasia, members of the presidium of the association, honorary participants of the CIS countries and renowned experts emphasized that the issues and problems of rehabilitation of cancer patients in oncological practice are extremely important, along with other priority tasks. This branch of medicine continues to develop and improve in accordance with the general development of oncological science as a whole. Therefore, there are a lot of issues requiring revision and discussion, which makes this topic very relevant for the next ADIOR conference. And of course,

The scientific program of the conference consisted of 9 sections and was held in parallel in three rooms in the online format. The participants had the opportunity to get up-to-date data on effective strategies for accompanying patients at the stages of surgical and combined treatment, to discuss organizational issues of medical rehabilitation in oncology. Including hear reports on the situation in the rehabilitation of patients with cancer of the female reproductive organs, rehabilitation in pediatric oncology. The details of the fine line between palliative care and rehabilitation in oncology were discussed.
