Andrey KAPRIN: Together we can give a worthy rebuff not only to oncological diseases, but also to pandemics

On April 9, the Extraordinary XII Congress of Oncologists and Radiologists of the CIS and Eurasia named after N.N. Trapeznikov . It was timed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first Congress of the Association of Directors of Institutes and Centers of Oncology and Radiology of the CIS and Eurasia. Over the years, the Association has held more than 30 meetings and 11 congresses, established the "Eurasian Oncological Journal", which became the official printed publication of the Association. This year, more than 8000 specialists from 21 countries of the world took part in the event.

The significance and authority of the site was noted by the President of Russia V.V. Putin, who, in his greeting to the participants of the Congress, recalled that it was largely thanks to the talent and the highest competence of N.N. Trapeznikov, advanced technologies and developments for the treatment of cancer patients were introduced into clinical practice: “He was able to consolidate the efforts of the medical community around important and priority goals,” the President noted. Vladimir Putin also stressed that the country's oncological service has withstood the test of a new coronavirus infection by the pandemic, and today a lot is being done in the country to improve the efficiency of medical care.

The opening ceremony of the XII Congress , which was attended by the Minister of Health of Russia M.A. Murashko, head of FMBA V.I. Skvortsova, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy I.Yu. Svyatenko, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.M. Sergeev, heads of the Oncology and Radiology Centers of the CIS and Eurasia countries and other honored guests, took place on April 7 at the press center of the Russia Today MIA. In total, over 2000 participants were in touch with the studio.

Opening the Congress, the President of ADIOR, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.D. Kaprin noted that over the years of professional oncological friendship of specialists from our countries, many outstanding events and interesting joint projects have taken place. This experience has shown that fellow doctors can fight not only cancer, but also a pandemic. He expressed gratitude for the support in the development of the oncological service to the country's leadership, the Ministry of Health, the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, heads of oncological services and ministries of health of the CIS countries, government and scientific organizations.

Russian Minister of Health M.A. Murashko in his speech highly appreciated the work of the domestic oncological service, which was able to withstand the test of time and, in spite of the most difficult conditions of the last year, reached a decrease in the death rate from cancer by 1.5%. According to the Minister, the conditions for the development of cancer care that exist in the country today are unique, and it would be wrong not to use them.

Domestic and foreign participants of the Congress were greeted by the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.M. Sergeev, who noted that international cooperation is what distinguishes modern science. “Today this is its main feature. There are no boundaries here. The best personnel are involved here, ”he stressed.

Manturov, Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.V. Choi and others. In addition, during the opening ceremony of the Congress, the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee S.N. Lebedev announced the decision of the executive committee to award the ADIOR of the CIS and Eurasia with an honorary diploma and wished further development and prosperity of the association.

For the first time, within the framework of the Congress, the leaders of the largest public organizations organized a section for patients. The main topics of discussion were: innovations in the treatment of cancer, the procedure for providing cancer care, legal issues, psychological assistance and rehabilitation. They aroused keen interest from representatives of patient organizations, who could not only listen to the speakers' reports, but also ask questions of interest to them in real time. The section was attended by over 600 people from different countries.

Traditionally, within the framework of the Congress, the results of the competition for young scientists were summed up, in which specialists from 13 medical institutions of the CIS countries took part. The winners of the competition will undergo an internship at the National Medical Research Center of Radiology of the Russian Ministry of Health. Also a commemorative medal named after N.N. Trapeznikov, honorary members of ADIOR, who made a great contribution to the development of the oncological service of their country, were awarded: Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences M.I. Davydov, rector of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy. I.K. Akhunbaeva I.O. Kudaibergenova, Director of the Institute of Oncology Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova L.I. Katrinich, Advisor to the Director General of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "NMRC of Radiology" of the Ministry of Health of Russia, President of the East European Group for the Study of Sarcomas M.D. Aliev and Director General of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "National Medical Research Center of Oncology" of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Head of the Department of Oncology of the Rostov State Medical University O.I. Kit.

The next XIII Congress of Oncologists and Radiologists of the CIS and Eurasia countries, based on the results of the general decision of the Congress, will be held in April 2022 in the capital of Kazakhstan - Nur-Sultan.
